FAQ

For true success ask yourself these four questions: Why? Why not? Why not me? Why not now?” – James Allen

What does TACT stand for?
TACT stands for Theatrically Acquired Communication Techniques.

What is TACT?
TACT is a unique method of enhancing interpersonal communication for non-actors, using techniques taught to professional interactive improvisation actors. These kinds of actors perform, not on a stage, but interactively, in the middle of their audience, and have no script. They improvise what they say and do, in character, much like most of us do in real life without realizing it.

I’m not an actor, so how can TACT help me?
TACT is designed for non-actors, to give them a better understanding of their own self-expression and the expressions of those they encounter, and how to use that understanding to create constructive situations and outcomes in their business and personal lives. Improvisational acting techniques for voice, face, body, and mind enable the development of effective communication based on theme, character and objective. For actors, these techniques are used to entertain. But for everyone else, the techniques are equally as useful in the workplace, the classroom, the office, the marketplace, the street, and the home.

Why is TACT important?
Every day we play a number of roles. There are various roles in our work, at home, with friends, while shopping. We think of these roles as just different things that we do. We do them all as “myself.” Studies have shown that each of us is composed of different characters living different roles. Characters can be understood and influenced and empowered, ie changed for the better. TACT is about understanding those many characters we play, about influencing how they react and respond, about strengthening their abilities to achieve their goals.

What results should I expect from TACT?
After your TACT experiences, you will find yourself more usefully demonstrative, clearer in communication, having a greater analytical grasp of situations and motivations, and with an enhanced ability to more effectively initiate and respond within the various situations you face everyday. Much of life is about dealing with the unexpected. We prepare as best we can on the fly. That’s improvisation. An old friend used to say, “You’ll get your opportunities. Will you be ready for them?” Working to strengthen your improvisational and interpersonal communication abilities with TACT can help you be ready for your opportunities.

Will I see results right away?
Yes. Many clients have been awed by how quickly their perspective, comprehension, and abilities grow.

What tools will I need?
Only four. Your mind, face, voice, and body.
